Color lithograph map, 1893, prepared by William John McGee "from data in possession of the US Geological Society", printed by Julius Bien & Co, New York, this is the second map published by the USGS in an attempt to show as much geological information about the United States as was known (the first being in 1884/85) and although much new information had been added to the south-west and west there are still large areas where more data was needed, on white wove paper, with horizontal and vertical folds as issued (now flattened);
