Double-sided lithograph folding map, 1915, drawn by George H. Rock, Los Angeles, and published by Albert G. Thurston, Pasadena, and Western Map & Publishing Co., Los Angeles, the primary side showing automobile and wagon roads as well as railways, and with extensive text down the right side of the sheet detailing distances between certain towns and cities, the reverse side, from San Francisco to Portland, showing the various road types in more detail ("Good Road", Poor, Rough Road", "Steep and Narrow Road" etc.); on orange-yellow paper, with horizontal and vertical folds as issued (now flattened), together with the gray-blue card covers in which the map was contained; three locations on the map (near Buena Vista Lake) circled in red pencil, a very slightly rubbed area (to the left of San Luis Obispo) and with three very short areas of paper separation along a few fold edges now strengthened with archival tape on the reverse, otherwise in very good condition and an uncommon, and early, California automobile map
